Wisdom not Wealth

2 Kings 3: 11-14
Wisdom not Wealth

And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast
not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for
thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for
thyself understanding to discern judgment; Behold, I have done
according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an
understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee,
neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. And I have also
given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour:
so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy
days. And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my
commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy
days.

Solomon asked for wisdom, not wealth, but God gave him riches and a
long life as well. While God does not promise riches for those that
follow Him, He gives us what we need if we put His kingdom, His
interests, and His principles first.
Matthew 6: 31-33 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we
eat? Or, What shall we drink? Or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly
Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye
first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things
shall be added unto you.
Setting your sights on riches will only leave you dissatisfied
because even if you get the riches you crave, you will still want
something more. But if you put God and His work first, He will
satisfy your deepest needs.

Father in Heaven, we are so grateful that we serve a God who is more
than able to meet our every need. May we seek You--knowing You,
serving You, loving You, more than any earthy riches or gain. Help us
to place You first in our lives! First in our desires! First in our
needs! In Your Son's Precious and Holy Name, Amen..
